June 14, 2024KAMPALA | In an exciting turn of events for Uganda’s sports community, Rogers Mulindwa, a well-respected member of the FUFA Executive, has been appointed as the new chairperson of the management committee for the prestigious Hamz/Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium. This strategic move, confirmed by the stadium’s owner, Ham Kiggundu, is set to propel the stadium to new heights under Mulindwa’s experienced guidance.
Charting a Course for Succes
Ham Kiggundu, while addressing the press, emphasized the importance of this appointment. He highlighted the critical role Mulindwa is expected to play in ensuring the stadium’s growth and financial sustainability. “We expect Mr. Rogers Mulindwa to guide the stadium to further growth and ensure that the facility generates income for its sustainability. I have no doubt, Mr. Mulindwa will deliver us to the desired destination and I shall give him all the support he needs,” Kiggundu stated.
Building on Past Successes
Mulindwa’s new role follows his successful leadership as the chairperson of the organizing committee for the stadium’s grand opening on June 1, 2024. The event, which attracted large crowds, marked a significant milestone for the stadium.
Expressing his gratitude for the new appointment, Mulindwa said, “I am so grateful to Hamis Kiggundu for the task assigned to me. This is not a full-time job, but I shall offer my best and together we shall direct our focus towards continued improvement of this facility.”

Mulindwa underscored the strategic importance of the stadium’s location and its potential for diverse sports activities. “This stadium is strategically located and we shall ensure it is put to proper use to avoid frustrating the private developer and investor,” he concluded.
